JANET is a package written in programming language JAVA, the main developer - Carsten Knudsen from Dutch Technical University. Before starting to work on JANET , Knudsen was the developer of PATH package for bifurcation analysis in C++. I do not know, what has forced him at the end of 90-th to switch from C++ to JAVA . I know, last versions of JVM are fast enough - Java may be compared to DELPHI, for example, or Visual Basic, as concerning number crunching capabilities. Portability, standard graphic libraries, distributed calculations and other fun staff. Well, now there are lovers of PYTHON, or MATLAB. By the way, I do not know any bifurcation package written in DELPHI or VB. What efforts it takes to write auto differentiating package whithout possibilities of overloading the operators? The authors make use of existing software, as far as I know. For example, they have used JAMA package as linear algebra engine.
