From the bifurcation analysis point of view XPP (alternative name XPPAUT) is, mainly, wrapper for AUTO package. On the other hand G. Bard Ermentrout, from Pittsburgh University, provide a handful of additional capabilities, so the interactive graphical interface for AUTO is a small part of what it can do. XPP may solve delayed equations, stochastic differential equations, it includes a dozen of different ODE solvers, it may compute one-dimensional invariant sets, bifurcation diagrams, animations and many, many more. It is aimed first of all at visual modelling - without need to write a lot of code, user must supply only system equations in pseudocode - the dynamics of nonlinear systems in the phase space depending on several control parameters.

Professor has published the book about XPP. This is a unique case in my software zoo.
